How to Create Asset Categories

In HRStop, Asset Categories help you organize company resources such as laptops, mobile devices, or charger. Proper categorization ensures easy tracking, reporting, and management of assets.


🔹 Steps to Create Asset Categories in HRStop

  1. Login to HRStop Control Panel
    • Access your HRStop Admin Portal.
    • Navigate to Control Panel → Assets → View/Add → Asset Categories.
  2. Click on “Add New Category”
    • In the Asset Categories section, click + Add New to create a new category.
  3. Enter Category Details
    • Category Name → Example: Laptop or Mobile Devices.
    • Description (Optional) → Provide a short detail like “Company-issued laptops.”
    • Parent Category (Optional) → If this category belongs under another, select it.
    • Code Pattern (Optional) → For auto-generated asset codes, e.g., LAP000 for laptops.
  4. Save the Category
    • Click Save/Update.
    • The new category will now appear in the Asset Categories List in HRStop.

  • Laptops → For IT-issued laptops.
  • Mobile Devices → For company-issued phones.
  • Furniture → For office desks, chairs, etc.

  • Use specific and clear names to avoid confusion, e.g., “Dell Laptops” instead of just “Laptop.”
  • Always create or verify categories before adding or assigning assets to ensure proper allocation.
